MYANMAR ARMY GANG-RAPED ROHINGYA WOMEN, SHOT DEAD, BRUTALLY BEATEN AND ARBITRARY ARRESTED ABOUT 200 MEN

The Myanmar army gang-raped Rohingya women, teen aged girls and arbitrarily arrested about 100 men in Lu Ban Pyin (Locally called Luti Farang) village of Kyet Yoe Pyin village track (Locally called KiyariFarang) in northern Maungdaw yesterday. According to reliable sources, during the day-long siege of three Rohingya villages, KyetYoePyin (Kiyari Fsrang), NgaSarKyu (NysaFuru) and Oo Shye Kyar (Bura Shiddar Fara) – by a joint force of the army and the Border Guard Police (BGP) from 5:00 am MST to until the late evening.

They entered into the homes saying to search and investigate. When they didn’t find men present in some homes during the raids, they raped the women there. “As far as my concerned, they have gang-raped women and teen aged girls in my neighboring house. They were screaming and crying for help” said a woman who managed to escape the horror scene. They raped 8 teen aged girls; all of them are 11 to 17 years old, 2 of them are in very critical situation said a reliable source. It has been learnt that the military are committing rapes and all other crimes against humanity in disguise of ‘Clearance Operation.’

All the men been escaped from all those villages to neighboring villages to save their lives, then to day on 19/11/2016, raided in Ngan Chaung Village track as well. Arrested about 125 Rohingyas, all of them are escaped peoples from neighboring villages such as Kyet Yoe Pyin, Pwin Phyu Chaung, Ye Khet Chaung, Myaw Taung villages.

Today in Du Dan village track of Maungdaw North, Myanmar Army shot dead Mlv. Minhaju Rahman and Waheda Begum (d/o) Korimullah, (18) years old. According reliable sources 7 peoples shot there, still to be confirmed. At 3pm MST, a 15-years old girl also taken away by Myanmar Army, to unknown place, worrying she will be raped then killed.

“The military ordered us to stay at home cool and calm, not to run away but when we do that, they arbitrary beat arrest every one of us or kill us when we try to escape. What should we do” said a Rohingya man while he is on the run.

Going by the current trends of the arrests in Maungdaw, the Burmese armed forces simply arrest random civilians they encounter and declare them to be militants through the state media and other domestic media under the instructions of the military.

On this unfolding situation, a human rights watchdog based in Maungdaw commented "the army arrests any Rohingya men on sight whether or not they have connections with the alleged militants in the region. They declare these civilians as militants through the state media as soon as they are arrested. So they run away in that fear. When they flee, the army and the BGP get free hands to rape women to their hearts’ content. I estimate the numbers of Rape Victims could exceed 150 by now.”

Hundreds of the innocent civilians have been killed, more than 150 women have been raped, many hundred peoples have been arrested and many villages have entirely been destroyed since the army offensive begun on the civilians in northern Maungdaw by the name of ‘Clearance Operation.’

These pogroms, mass arrests and rapes are now leading to mass exodus of people especially to Bangladesh.
