ENFORCED DISAPPEARANCE OF ROHINGYA IN BUTHIDAUNG

Buthidaung – Myanmar army battalion 232 accompanied with village Administrator, Kyaw Hla Khaing came to Ba Da Kar Village tract (Fatiya Fara) Buthidaung and took away five Rohingya villagers who have disappeared since 12 January 2016.

Burmese armed forces from army battalion 232 camped in Kyee Hnoke Thee village (Kawwar Tunt Fara) of Buthidaung abducted Sayedul Amin aged 40 and Edris aged 35 from Badaga South (Fatiya Fara), Muhammad Yahaya aged 27 Jamal Husein aged 30 and Rashid aged 35 from Kinosi (Kinisi ) village on 12 January 2016.

One of the victim’s wife said “My husband was taken away from home by the administrator and soldiers on 12 January 2016. Since that day, authority has not informed us about my husband, we don’t know he is alive or not. We tried to get the information but the administrator refused to tell us about my husband”.

Another victim’s mother expressed that “My son did nothing against government”. She repeatedly said “My son was disappeared by the soldiers”. The Burmese armed force have been continuously carrying out mass arrests of the Rohingya civilians, torturing the arrestees and subjecting some to enforced disappearances as part of ethnic cleansing in Myanmar’s western Rakhine.

During “Clearance Operation” in northern Maungdaw since October 9, the Burmese armed forces- the Military and the Border Guard Police (BGP)- have arbitrarily arrested more than 1,000 civilians later subjecting them to tortures and enforced disappearances, raping more than 500 women and girls and burning down approximately 3,500 homes leading to displacements of more than 90,000 people without shelter, food, water and medicines.

Army battalion 232 camped in Kyee Hnoke Thee village of Buthidaung 25days, arbitrarily arrested many and extorted money from Rohingya of Ba Da Kar village Tract. Army battalion 552 was replaced to continue atrocity against Rohingya civilian on 8 February 2017.

“Military comes to the Rohingya villages in four different groups each group includes 25 soldiers”.

Before they come they informed village administrator to arrange food and beer. Administrator extorts money from the villagers. They confiscated all properties of Abdu Rahman 35 years old and Abdu Shukkur 40 years old on 10 February 2017″, said a villager. Rashida, another victim’s wife said ” I want to know the location where my husband being kept and about his health”
