EU delegation leading by Ambassador Dr. Colin Steinbach,
include 10 members, have been arrived Sittwe, the capital city of Rakhine state
to continue their visit to Maungdaw.
The team has planned to continue their trip till 31st
into Maungdaw north to investigate the allegations of human rights violations
in the region.
“EU delegation arrive Sittwe today and discussed with
state government about the development of the region” State minister U Kyaw aye
Thein said. EU delegation could not discuss about the allegation of human
rights, as the concerning ministers are absent, the minister more added.
EU diplomatic group met with U Hpoo Min, vice chairman of
state legislative office, privately.
Diplomatic team will travel tomorrow to Maungdaw will meet
with local authorities and Muslim leaders. The next days will visit to the
villages of northern Maungdaw such as UShayKya, KyaGongTaung, DhaGyiZaar,
YaeKhetChaungKwaSone, PwinHpyuChaung, KyetYoePyin, LongDoon, NgaKhuya,
KyiKanpyin etc.
Then on their way back will meet with Swe Zadi Sayadaw
Gyi of Sittwe.
