Mass fire destroyed many filling shops in Kyauktaw

A mass fire burned dozens of filling shops in Kyauktaw
Township on 15th March, Wednesday.

According to sources, at least 41 filling shops including
tea-shop and workshop, those were attached one another, were destroyed by the
fire at ‘Pyay Taw Thar’ Quarter nearby the ‘Gassapa Nadi’ bridge before the
entrance to the downtown of Kyauktaw.
The fire was accidentally broke out while a van
driver was filling petrol in the tank of his vehicle at around 6:30pm local said. One man
was injured in the fire, while a few houses were also partially burnt.
“None of the properties belong to the Rohingyas as it is a
Rakhine quarter but it was a huge loss. “We are really sorry for the Rakhine
peoples affected by the fire”, said an elderly Rohingya man in Kyauktaw.
Two fire-brigades arrived at the scene soon after the
fire broke out. The locals came together with the fire-brigades and
