“After opening fire
on the Rohingya loaded boat, the BGB (Border Guard Bangladesh) approached to
the boat where one woman was found shot dead and four were injured,” according
to the police chief in the Bangladeshi border town of Teknaf.
The dead woman and
at least 4 of the injured men were Rohingya, who were rushed to Teknaf
Hospital, he added.
But the head of
Teknaf’s government-run hospital, Iskandar Mirza, said the woman identified as
50-year-old Jahida Khatun and the 4 injured were all Rohingya.
“However, the bullet
hit body of the woman was brought to Teknaf Hospital where the body was
declared dead, source added.
The four other
injured Rohingya were again referred to Cox’s Bazar Sadar Hospital for better
treatment as the condition of the wounded bodies was critical.
