China offered help to Bangladesh and Burma over Rohingya debate

The visiting China’s special envoy to Asia Mr. Sun Gouxiang has said on Tuesday that his country is ready to help tackle a diplomatic row between Bangladesh and Myanmar over the minority Rohingya issue.

The China’s special envoy has expressed this eagerness on Tuesday during his meeting with Officials of Foreign Ministry of Bangladesh to solve the long standing Rohingya debate between neighboring Bangladesh and Burma.

Sun made the proposal during a meeting with Bangladesh Foreign Secretary Shahidul Haque. Officials from Bangladesh foreign ministry who declined to disclose their name has told the reporters that the envoy has underscored to solve the issue through bilateral dialogue. The special envoy is now in Dhaka for a four day visit from 24 April.

Around 70,000 Rohingyas have fled to Bangladesh to escape violence in Buddhist-majority Myanmar since October. Bangladesh has to host another 300 thousands Rohingya refugees that have infiltrated from Burma. ‘Inspite of repeated attempt to solve the crisis, Burma has not been responding over the solution of Rohingya debate’ officials from Foreign Ministry said. On the other hand Burma has immediately responded to hold talks with China when conflict arouse in its northern border some days after October incidence in Arakan state, officials informed to the Chinese special envoy.
