Rohingya Genocide Day ‘3 June’ Observed by Arakan Times Media Team

The 3rd June as a Genocide Day or Martyr Day of Rohingyas in Arakan (Rakhine) State of Myanmar has been observed today (Saturday) in Saudi Arabia by Arakan Times Media Team along with the Rohingyas and non-Rohingyas across the world. Most of the peoples are with tears, showed their unhappiness and remembered the moment of 3rd June 2012 while 10 pilgrims were mercilessly killed by 300 Rakhine Buddhist in front of Myanmar’s Security Forces at Taung Gouk, Rakhine State.

The June 3, 2012, was a day beginning of mass killing resulted thousands of Rohingya Muslims has been killed and homes were torched to ashes by Buddhist Rakhine extremists by the back of Myanmar security forces and Buddhist Monk gangs along all over Arakan State then spread to all over Myanmar wherever residing Muslims.

Mr. Jafar Arkani, the Admin of Arakan Times Media, in a message on the occasion, paid rich tributes to the memory of those martyrs who were on the way back to their homes after finishing their pilgrimage.
The Arakan Times Media Team has prayed to the Almighty Allah for the peace of the departed souls and the tens of thousands of Rohingya who were forced to be displaced in squalid Internally Displacement camps where they are still languishing and facing various problems in their surviving as they are not allowed to return to their ancestral or homelands of origin.

Mr. Mir Ahmed Siddiqi, a Rohingya Rights Activist said in his message, today is 3rd June; we Rohingya are too disappointed and remembering to those innocent pilgrims who were killed by Rakhine extremists while they (pilgrims) were going back to their homes from Arakan.
On 28th May 2012, a professional Rakhine prostitute namely Ma Thida Htwe, was found dead at a paddy field between Rohingya village and Rakhine Buddhist village in Kyauk Ni Maw.

As Rakhine Buddhist preplanned to start genocide against Rohingya Muslims, they accused three Rohingya youths for the murder of the prostitute and arrested them taking the advantage of it. The three Rohingya arrestees were tortured severely by police and Rakhine people for confession of Ma Thida’s murder where one of them died on torture while the other two were sentenced to death.

Centering the murder of the Rakhine prostitute who was killed by Rakhine youths but claiming the Rohingya, the Buddhist Rakhine extremists killed 10 Muslims pilgrims near the police check post of Taung Gouk, Arakan.

For about Ma Thida Htwe, she was professional prostitute and drunkard too. According to Rakhine sources, she was hired by three Rakhine Buddhist youths on 27 May 2012 evening for full night. But she was killed by the three youths as she denied for sexual purpose for whole night. Then they threw the body of her into the paddy field.

Early morning of 28 May 2012, one of the killers informed village authority and police about the dead body and pointed to the Rohingya as killers. Then police arrested the three Rohingya youths and tortured one to death while other two were sentenced to death.

As for 10 Muslims killed by about 300 Rakhine Buddhist extremists, still no action, no arrest and no case were filed.
Therefore, Siddiqi said, his voice to all of the people is to remind about the blood of those innocent pilgrims. We must remember them; we must submit it as fact of genocide into the International Fact-Finding Mission.

He further said, “I would like to convey my message today in this special occasion, to the government of Myanmar that we are in 3 June today; we will remember it and will never forget it”.

The AT Team has chalked out elaborate programs in observance of 3 June as the Genocide Day of Rohingya.

Many other Rohingya and non-Rohingya brothers and sisters from different communities took part at the occasion to observe the 3 June as the day of Rohingya Genocide or “Martyr Day” in Arakan, Myanmar.


The program was concluded through offering Munajat praying for the eternal peace of the departed souls in Arakan in 2012.
