Myanmar military assaulted some poor Rohingya children and men in Taungpyo Lewet of Maungdaw north when found them going to the forest for collecting fire woods on January 25.

The victims were identified as Abdur Rahman 15, son of Nur Kamal, Nur Nabi 25, son of Sukkur, Abadullah 15, son of Tanda Miah, Yaser 10, son of Zafar, Huzaifa 8, daughter of Zafar, Rofique 10, son of Zuhur Ahamed, Bozu Miah 85, son of Yousuf Ali, Abu Taher 45, son of Bozu Miah, Hafsa 10, daughter of Abu Taher, Zanait Ullah 11, son of Abu Siddik, Nur Alam 55, son of Abdur Rahman and Ali Ahamed 17, son of Gura Miah of various villages of Maungdaw and Buthidaung.

According to Arakan Times correspondent report, hundreds of Rohingya families from different villages stranded at the zero point of Taungpyo are desperate to cross into Bangladesh to escape atrocities of Myanmar armed forces.

They have been stuck at the no man’s land for months since they neither can return to their homes nor cross into Bangladesh.

Therefore, they are facing acute food and other crisis at the no man’s land. On January 25, some children including men went to collect fire wood in the forest of Taungpyo where they were found by military and beaten inhumanly.

Earlier, on 22 January, about 100 homes out of 400 which remained un-burnt were torched to ashes by military although both the countries have signed an agreement for repatriation of Rohingyas who fled to Bangladesh.

It will be a human rights violation and inhumanity if the persecuted Rohingyas are pushed into burning fire in Myanmar again before no solution to the issue of Rohingya, said a Rohingya activist.
