He said a Bangladesh delegation led by Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali will visit Northern Rakhine state in Myanmar this month to see whether right conditions are there for their safe and sustainable return.

Home Secretary (Public Security Division) Mostafa Kamal Uddin said if the Rohingya crisis prolongs it would create an adverse impact on the security situation as the refugees might be victims of radicalisation and extremism.

UN Resident Coordinator Mia Sappo expressed her frustration over the under-funding in regards to the international commitment over humanitarian response to Rohingya refugees.

Abul Kalam of Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commission (RRRC), based in Cox's Bazar, said the Rohingya influx has taken immense toll on the locality.

Mohsin Ali, executive director of Wave Foundation, urged the government to ensure financial support to the local farmers and fishermen.

Khushi Kabir, coordinator of Nijera Kari, said immediate repatriation of the Rohingyas is necessary as it has started to pose a threat to the local community.

Shifa Hafiz of Ain O Salish Kendra said there should be a better coordination between the local and international NGOs.

Sabnam Azim, an assistant professor of Dhaka University, feared about radicalisation and spread of militancy if the Myanmar nationals continue to live in Bangladesh for a long time.
