minister Rajnath Singh informed Rajya Sabha on Wednesday that talks were being
held with Bangladesh for sending back illegal Rohingya migrants living in
different parts of the country. Mr Singh said while discussions were being held
with Bangladesh, if required ministry of external affairs will also take up the
issue with both Myanmar and Bangladesh on deporting Rohingyas.
Centre, he added,
has also sent an advisory to the state government to prepare a biometric record
of illegal Rohingya migrants to ensure that in future they do not procure any
document to claim Indian citizenship. “Once we get the report from different states
it will also be shared with the foreign ministry,’’ Union home minister, Mr
Rajnath Singh said on the issue.
