AN IMAM WAS TORTURED TO DEATH BY MYANMAR ARMY BATTALION IN
BUTHIDAUNG
Maulana Baddullah son of Muzaffar and his two sons were
arrested by commander of army battalion-552 on 13 January was tortured to death
returned his dead body to his family in the morning of 16 January 2017. Wife of Baddullah said ” The whole body of my
husband has mark of torture “
Many Rohingya from Buthidaung and Maungdaw township reported
me that army has been using force ignoring rule of law. Today, an Imam was
tortured to death in Nga Yant Chaung Village of Buthidaung Township.
Myanmar military went to Nga Yant Chaung village of
Buthidaung and some soldiers dived in the lake of the village at 11 AM to 1 PM,
on 14 January 2017 and pretended searching something in it. No villagers could approach them and dared to
ask the reason.
On 15th January they came again and started emptying water
and digging the lake as if they were seeking a hidden treasure in the lake.
Villagers were in fear that they might hide weapons in the lake and blamed on
Rohingya.
In the evening, a Rohingya informed that “out of five
Rohingya arrested on 13th January one person admitted he had hidden weapons in
the lake because of torture. As they are being tortured saying “show us the
place where you hid the weapons” one of them answered” in the lake.” That’s the
reason they digged the lake but they found nothing. Baddullah was tortured to
death by army battalion 552 and one of his sons was released today and another
son is still in army custody.
Commander-in-Chief of Defence Service @Cincds FB Page and
State Counsellor Office Information Committee @MyanmarSCOInfoCom FB Page didn’t
mention arrest of Baddullah. Whenever army tortured to death someone they never
write anything in the news or they announced someone died because of such and
such disease.
For the case of Baddullah, one of his son was published
officially that they involved in Maungdaw attack without mentioning Baddullah
and his other son and they also cheated public as if victims were arrested on
15 January though they were arrested on 13 January 2017.
While returning the dead body of Baddullah, an officer
warned the victim’s family not to report about him anywhere or they would pay
the price for that. “Twenty soldiers led by two army officers were watching and
waiting with families and relatives of Baddullah until his dead body was buried
by them. No one was allowed to take any photo or video clip of corpse”. Said
Naja Muddin.
