Fire in Aungmingala, Sittwe, RakhineST |
At least two dwelling houses of Rohingya Muslims in Aungmingla
ward of Sittwe, capital of Rakhine (formerly Arakan) State have been gutted to
ashes on Wednesday 3 May 2017 (today) at around 9: 00 pm.
The fire originated from a house and soon engulfed to
other attached house burning them to ashes. But before spreading many other
attached houses, the villagers extinguished the blaze with their frantic effort,
according to reliable sources.
Many Rakhines from
the neighboring village were besieging the Rohingya Muslims and tried to
prevent them from extinguishing the fire while blazing the houses but Rohingyas
continued and extinguished the fire.
On the other hand,
rumor appeared that there are thousands of Rakhine extremists, holding knives,
swords, sticks and many other kinds of sharp weapons rushed into the spot and
trying to create a communal violence, for which the innocent Rohingya Muslims
are in terrible situation, said a reliable Rohingya from Sittwe.
The fire started
from a house of Rohingya due to carelessness which burned two houses to ashes
and at one stage of that the Rakhine extremists are trying to create clash
taking the advantages of the fire incident although there are Police Forces
(Hluntin) on security duty around the place, sources said. Now the Rohingyas
are in fear that the Rakhine may create any conflict at any moment centering
the fire incident, he added.
