A powered demonstration in protest to giving ‘The City of London’ award to Aung San Suu Kyi  held on Monday, 8th May, outside the Guildhall in London , the place where Suu Kyi has been honored with this award.
A group of demonstrators protested outside the Guildhall opposing the honor entitled to Suu Kyi, about her treatment of minority Rohingya Muslims in Arakan state of Burma. The protestors accused her of violations of Human Rights of Minority Rohingya Muslims and ethnic Kachin in the country.

San Suu Kyi was awarded the honorary freedom of the City of London on Monday. The City of London explained about awarding her as “it was in recognition of her non-violent struggle over many years for democracy and her steadfast dedication to create a society where people can live in peace, security and freedom”.

On the contrary to this award presentation a group of demonstrators protested outside the Guildhall with signs reading “Free All Political Prisoners in Burma” and “Please Stop Military Burning of Rohingya Villages”.

They chanted “Suu Kyi is lying; Rohingyas are dying” and said that people who had once supported her now opposed her.
“We believed that she would be a champion of human rights but she has been complicit with… the junta murdering innocent Rohingyas,” one speaker said.

Another British speaker said that though she was not a Rohingya, she came to that demonstration in response to humanity and to protest against gross Human Rights violations against ethnic Rohingya in Arakan state of Burma.

The protesters loudly chanted saying,
“Suu Kyi is Lying, we are dying!
Most of the Burmese people are crying.
Murderer Myanmar army is smiling.
Does she deserve this award? .. No Way
Aung San Suu Kyi .. Shame on you
City of London.. Shame on you
Mayor of London.. Shame on you”

Aung San Suu Kyi heard the clear loud charnts, loud and unequivocal, from the street. Aung San Suu Kyi has just arrived at the Guidhall’s Old Library to collect another honour!
Suu Kyi is arriving at Guildhall, Does she look honoured??
She had just been greeted very loudly with “Aung San Suu Kyi, Shame on you!” chants just minutes before she walked into the Guidlhall to receive the Freedom of the City honour. She saw and heard the protestors from within 10 ft of her Mercedez.

The Rohingyas who belong to Minority Muslim population are an indeginous ethnic minority in Arakan state of Burma. They had been subjected to worst kind of persecution since military takeover in 1962. They were made stateless citizens in their ancestral homeland in 1982 by the then military regime.

The security forces did not stop their heinious crimes even in Democratic government led by Aung San Suu Kyi. These people have been subjected to recent military operation last year but Suu Kyi turned blind and deaf to these atrocities and denied any persecution upon this stateless citizen. The UN Human Rights Council termed these persecutions as Crimes Against Humanity in last March and formed an independent fact-finding mission to investigate into the atrocities.

Last week Suu Kyi rejected the decision by the UN’s rights council to investigate allegations of crimes by Myanmar’s security forces against Rohingyas.
