An innocent Rohingya woman has been sentenced for 6 months imprisonment in Northern Maungdaw on May 15, 2017. She was accused of guilty and jailed for expressing the truth about killing her husband along with two others in the so-called Clearance Operations by Burmese security forces since last October.

According to the reliable source, Mr Abdu Salam S/O. Aminuddin from Kyagong Taung (Rabaillaya, Somboinna para) village tract in Northern Maungdaw with two other companions were shot dead by military force on November 13, 2016 as a part of crackdown in the name of ‘Clearance Operation’ after alledged attack on police post. The house of the victim was burned keeping the three dead bodies inside in order to demolish the signs of of atrocities.

Mrs Salma Khatun, beloved wife of the deceased Abdu Salam has explained the facts in details to the international diplomats and reporters who were visiting the victims at that time. She showed (to the visiting persons) the place (mass grave) where the three bodies were buried by barbarian Burmese army.

A case was filed in regard to this atrocities committed by the Burmese security forces when Mrs. Salma reported to the concerned government officials and nearby police station. The Maungdaw judge court pronounced a verdict of 6 months imprisonment to Salma Khatun yesterday, accusing her for providing false information against the security forces. The court denied of such atrocities committed by the armed force since last October.

The military forces launched so-called clearance operation in the name of searching ‘rebels’ since last October  after an attack on police post on 9th October last year. More than 1000 innocent Rohingya were killed, hundreds of houses were burnt, and around 75000 Rohingya flee into Bangladesh displacing thousands other.

The UN has accused Burmese army of committing Crimes Against Humanity referring it to fact-finding mission for neutral and independent investigation. The Burmese government as well as military chief have denied the accusation and so rejected the fact-finding mission to probe into the alleged atrocities.

The rights activists expressed their deep concern over the judgment and said that it was an attempt to ignore the persecutions meted out upon the Rohingya Muslims and to warn all the victims keeping their selves mum to all atrocities of Burmese army. If the victims are contrarily accused of guilty and punished– the justice will weep silently.
