Bangladesh Camp authority imposes restriction on refugees’ movement in the camp

The appointed Camp in Charge (Executive Magistrates) in the camps by the Refugee Relief and Repatriation Commissioner (RRRC) has declared that no guest from any other refugee camps can stay without prior information to Camp in Charge in the camps, according to source from Kutupalong camp.
If anyone comes from any other camps and stay at any relative’s house without prior information to the camp authority, he will be arrested and taken action against him/her as per jurisdiction.

The message and the directive have been conveyed to the refugees through megaphone in all the blocks by the respective Block and Camp Head Majees of the camp today.

The refugees’ imagination on this imposition of restriction on movement of refugees is due to reluctance of refugees to go back to Myanmar without citizenship and rights.

“A refugee block-Majee says that Bangladesh should not be raged upon us over our unwillingness of repatriation. We will return to our beloved motherland if we are granted our citizenship and rights.

We have not come here for forever. We have been waiting only for restoration of our rights and citizenship by Myanmar government.

However, we offer our tremendous gratitude to Bangladesh government and its people for sheltering us in our distress. We also hope that it would work with the international community as well as Myanmar for our safe and dignified return with our citizenship.

We would like to urge Bangladesh government to allow us to stay till our citizenship is restored by Myanmar government” said a camp leader on condition of anonymity from Kutupalong camp.
